On the way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola for rhino tracking and then proceed with another stopover for an en route lunch in Masindi town. Later, continue, and upon arrival in Murchison Falls National Park, you will drive directly to the top of the falls, enjoy views of the water, and then connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls
You will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park, where you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, warthogs, and giraffes, among others, in the open savannah plains and view predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas and different bird species, as Murchison Falls National Park is a birding paradise.
After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, which starts at around 2:00 pm. During the launch cruise, you will look out for hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water and other animals like buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes drinking water along the shores; water birds like the African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, Goliath heron, giant kingfisher, and Abyssinian ground hornbill, among others. Later, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Nile delta boat cruise
After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for the Nile Delta boat cruise, which starts from Paraa Jetty and takes about 4 to 5 hours. During the boat cruise, you will be able to spot a variety of bird species, like the elusive shoebill stork, black-headed lapwing, long-toed plover, grey-headed kingfisher, and saddle-billed stork, among others; view hippos in the water; and see Nile crocodiles basking on the shores.
